On January 18, Novembal, part of the Sidel Group, has held an official ‘Open House’ day at its new plant in Peoria, in the State of Arizona in the US. The company is an independent business unit producing caps and bottle closures mainly for beverage producers, which in 2016 established a new plant in the city of Peoria.

During the event, dignitaries and officials from Peoria, along with members of the local Chamber of Commerce and plant employees, heard welcoming speeches by Sam Strömerstén, President and CEO of the Sidel Group and Lorenzo van Haelst, Managing Director of Novembal. On behalf of the assembled guests and the local community, Mayor of Peoria, Mrs Cathy Carlat, spoke in response. After a ribbon-cutting ceremony which provided the perfect photo opportunity of the day’s event, a guided tour of the new plant let the visitors explore the cap production process. The guests showed great interest in learning about the solutions offered by the company and what Novembal can do for the local community, particularly the new job opportunities that the plant has already generated.

“Novembal offers a full range of caps for the liquid food packaging market and by providing our customers with innovative solutions we aim to maintain and build our competitive position in the market,” explained Lorenzo van Haelst. “For over 50 years, our extensive knowledge of the markets, our experience and our commitment to continuous quality improvement has placed us among the leading suppliers of plastic closures for the liquid packaging industry. For this new plant in Peoria, we are proud to have hired 50 people from the local area. This brings a third facility to our network of production sites, enabling us to respond even more effectively to our customers' needs anywhere within the North American market. Peoria is a great place for growth and success.”

A strategic re-alignment in 2015 saw Novembal transfer its operations to the Sidel Group, the leading provider of production equipment and services for liquids in PET, can and glass. The transfer recognizes the natural synergy that Novembal, which continues to operate as a standalone business, has with Sidel, a group with over 165 years of industrial experience. With both companies being dedicated to innovations in PET solutions and serving the liquid packaging industry, the potential market crossover between Novembal and Sidel is extensive. During the Open House event, Mayor of Peoria, Cathy Carlat officially welcomed the company to the city, looking forward to a long and successful relationship which, she hoped, would be mutually beneficial to both Novembal and its workforce which is mostly drawn from the local population. She said of the new plant: "Peoria welcomes Novembal as a partner with whom we share the principles of value and innovation. I look forward to their positive impact on our economy as well as their long-term success in our great city.”

Novembal transfer from Tetra Pak to Sidel Group brings better support for beverage producers in North America

30 april 2015

Novembal has recently transferred its North American operations from Tetra Pak to the Sidel Group, the leading global provider of PET solutions for liquid packaging, as part of a strategic alignment which sees Novembal operating as a standalone business within the Group. With Sidel and Tetra Pak both part of the Tetra Laval Group, the transfer recognises the enhanced opportunities that the move will bring to support beverage producers in North America.
As a developer and manufacturer of plastic caps for the bottled liquid food market, Novembal specialises in providing caps and closures solutions to support customers’ requirements. As such, there is a natural synergy with Sidel, a group that has over 165 years of industrial experience and one of the first companies to introduce PET bottles to the beverage industry over 30 years ago.
Lorenzo van Haelst, Managing Director of Novembal, comments –“The transfer of our business to the Sidel Group is realising real benefits. With both companies being dedicated to PET applications, we can draw from the expertise and experience of each in continuing to develop and introduce innovative solutions to the market. The Sidel advisory board has provided very useful input given that Sidel is recognised as a pioneer in PET solutions with 30,000 machines installed in more than 190 nations.”
The market crossover between Novembal and Sidel is extensive, with the water, carbonated soft drinks (CSD), juices and liquid dairy product sectors all served by both companies. There is also some commonality in the respective customer bases.
The growth in the beverage market continues to provide opportunities, with the 40 billion closures market forecast to continue to grow. The opportunities within specific beverage sectors in North America, where Novembal has its two three production facilities, are considerable, with water and juices, nectars, soft drinks, isotonics and teas (JNSDIT) proving particularly strong.
Mr van Haelst continues – “PET bottles offer a number of benefits, including the ability to reseal the bottle, a particular feature in the modern on-the-go packaging formats. We are well placed to meet the increased demand for caps and closures as the growth in market demand for liquid packaging in PET continues.”
